What is Sports Massage?

The purpose of Sports Massage Therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity.

A Sports Massage can help to:
- improve soft tissue function
- decrease muscle stiffness and fatigue
- reduce muscle tension
- decrease muscle soreness
- reduce swelling
- improve posture
- promote flexibility

- improve mental wellbeing

A Sports Massage is not just for athletes. You do not need to be a sportsperson to benefit from a Sports Massage. The treatment can also help relieve many day-to-day problems such as repetitive strain injury, sprains, work-related tension/stiffness and fatigue.

About me

Lucas Stevens

Sports Massage Therapist

Alongside being a qualified Sports Massage Therapist, I am a student Physiotherapist at St. George's, University Of London.

I am passionate about helping people get the most from their body and their training.

Understanding body mechanics, such as which muscles are required to engage in order to move joints and perform movements correctly, led me to pursue my degree in Physiotherapy. This then brought me to where I am today: a student Physiotherapist with an additional, specialist qualification in Sports Massage.

Certifications:

- ITEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Massage
